YMCA PROGRAMMES

Palmerston North YMCA strives to provide recreational programmes that are affordable and convenient for parents and safe and fun for children and youth. We aim to meet the recreational, social and developmental needs of the children and youth, encouraging personal development in a safe and responsive setting.

The Palmerston North YMCA links with Work & Income New Zealand who are able to assist working parents or those in full time study with a subsidy towards programme fees for OSCAR and school holidays.
Push Play is a Hillary Commission initiative supported by RST’s, YMCA and the Heart Foundation. Increasing activity in the lives of all New Zealanders, particularly children is the key to having a community of healthy, active adults in the future.

We contributes to the Youth Development Strategy Aotearoa’s vision of “a country where young people are vibrant and optimistic through being supported and encouraged to take up challenges”.

We deliver the principles through its own unique values based approach, customised to the local community needs helping young people to gain a:

* Sense of contributing something of value to society
* Feeling of connectedness to others and to society
* Belief that they have choices about their future
* Feeling of being positive and comfortable with their own identity.
